Farewell Fianna Fáil

With the current Government seeking a dissolution of the Dáil after the current budgetary process in December is complete, the disastrous government lead by Brian Cowen will finally come to an end.

Many people believe that the Government has made such a mess, it is now impossible for any party to pick up the broken pieces of our country.

Our morale has been destroyed, thousands of graduates emigrate each week, hundreds of thousands of people, young and old, depend hopelessly on social welfare. Hundreds of patients lie on trolley beds, thousands of students fear increases in fees and no future career options. Many people are homeless, many people’s houses have been repossessed and those on the minimum wage will now receive less than before.

What hope has this Government given us?

Let us NEVER forget what Brian Cowen and his Government done to our country.

So I say, good riddance and goodbye, you will be remembered as the worst Taoiseach in history, you failed to lead us, you failed to resign, so now, we the electorate, will vote you and all those responsible out of Government once and for all.

No party could do any worse than Fianna Fáil, no person could be as out of touch with the people as Brian Cowen, so let everyone breathe a sigh of relief for this Government of darkness, depression, doom and disaster has finally come to an end.

When many of you who wish to vote in the upcoming election cast your ballot paper, vote for someone who inspires you, vote for someone who you are confident in, vote for someone you feel has the intelligence and innovation skills to pull our country out of this mess, because right now that is exactly what we need.

Excellent post, Aidan! I particularly like that it wasnt biased to any particular Party, as so many of these politcial bloggers’ posts tend to be.

As for the last part, about voting for someone we’re confident in and inspires us – from gauging the mood on the street, and even just watching The Frontline tonight, I was struck by how there is (quite rightly) so much anger and frustration being vented by ordinary Irish people and how they are going to suffer becuase of the austerity measures being introduced in the budget. What I wasnt feeling though, was a sense that anyone had any confidence in any of the parties or leaders. I can only hope that the next government can convince people that politics works…because so few are now feeling that.
